When working in my studio I quite often make little heads or faces with any left over materials, and this led me to wonder what would happen  if I was to make a small head every day for a year. So on June 25 2004 I started,  hoping that I would become quite proficient if nothing else, and looked forward to getting to the end of the year to see where my journey would lead. I did get to be a lot better at doing the heads although there is something  appealing to me about the early ones, they have a more simple and naive quality. The later ones became more refined as expected but there is still a nice primitive and tribal feel to the group. There were lots of unforeseen twists and turns along the way; developing new tools and techniques, and the exercise was unexpectedly rewarding, both as a discipline and a meditation.  To see the complete collection in their unfinished form please   -   " click here"
